MCMASTER TO HOLD FUNDRAISER WITH ANDY CARD IN CHARLESTON SUNDAY

This year’s incredibly long, unprecedented, historic election has been over for less than 48 hours, but Palmetto State politicos are already plotting their 2010 campaigns.

In South Carolina, no race will be more hotly contested than the election of our next governor. The Democratic field is wide open right now, but Republicans have essentially narrowed their choices to three frontrunners – Congressman Gresham Barrett, Lt. Gov. Andre Bauer and Attorney General Henry McMaster (pictured above).

While none have officially announced their intentions, the latter member of that trio has given every indication that he will seek the highest office in the state. McMaster has launched a spiffy new website and has been holding high-dollar fundraisers across the country — all indicative of his intent to run a gubernatorial campaign.

According to an invitation obtained by The Palmetto Scoop, McMaster will hold one such fundraiser this weekend in Charleston with former White House Chief of Staff Andrew Card. The price tag for the event at the Mercato starts at $1000 for a sponsor and goes up to $3500 for a host committee.

The Three Stooges. It’s sad to think that I’ll have no choice but to vote for one of them.

I guess Andre considers himself the frontrunner, given the fact that he is the only one of the three without a nametag in your photo.

McMaster would get the Hell beat out of him… by anyone. Remember, he’s the guy who couldn’t convict a well-documented kidnapper a few years ago.

There’s more. These $1000.00 to $3500 a person events. Come on ya’ll… how many people attend? What do they do for a living that a grand is pocket change not to mention three and a half, especially right now? Do all of these people even live in South Carolina>??
Could there be a single source of Republican financing in South Carolina? Give it some thought.
If there was a big money pot somewhere, and if people could be recruited to write checks, then paid back from the pot, what would you think and how would you feel>?
What if that pot came from public funds?>?>
(( Hey Skippy, we gots us a problem over here)))

On the other side, Rep. James Smith from Columbia will be “campaigning” in Spartanburg on Monday at a Democratic Party luncheon.

How tired is this photo? How tired are these three guys? Really, Henry McMaster has been running for office his entire life. I remember him shaking hands at USC nearly 25 years ago when he was running for something. He’s like an old shoe you’ve worn for about 5 years too long. What he should do is concentrate on doing the job that the taxpayers elected him to do instead of being paid by the taxpayers to dial for dollars for a Governor’s race. Gresham? Please. He is from Washington and he is coming home to help….thanks but no thanks he is a part of the problem not the solution in DC. Again, we need someone who will stay in the fight and actually do the job he was elected to do. Andre, Andre… Andre’! He has more political lives than a cat and that he used his last one in his last race. None of these guys represent any sort of leadership so let’s all hope at least one other candidate who actually “gets it” decides they’ve had enough. Someone who is ready to seriously roll-up their sleeves, listen to the people, and lead this state to prosperity.
