SOMEONE WANTS VOTERS TO THINK POWERS-NORRELL REALLY LIKES TEH GAYS, ABORTION

I’ve been doing my best to stay out of the extremely nasty Senate District 16 race because I’m trying to play nice with hair-trigger blogger Will Folks and his client Rep. Mick Mulvaney. But the latest bit of trash thrown at Democrat Mandy Powers Norrell — this one apparently from a third party — is just too ridiculous to ignore.

According to the Indigo Journal, some group called “The Alliance for the Advancement of Gays and Lesbians” that most likely doesn’t actually exist unleashed a robo call to inform voters that they are backing Powers-Norrell for her support of gay rights and abortion.

Hi, this is Allison calling from the Alliance for the Advancement of Gays and Lesbians. We are a pro-gay rights, pro-choice grassroots organization.

I am calling to let you know that we are supporting Mandy Powers Norrell in the state Senate

A proven Democrat, Mandy Powers Norrell supports homosexual unions and abortion rights. We can count on Mandy Powers Norrell to promote a progressive agenda in the state Senate and to fight the right wing fringe at every turn.

Again, this is Allison with the Alliance for the Advancement of Gays and Lesbians asking you to vote for Democrat Mandy Powers Norrell on Tuesday, November 4. Thank you.

This call is simply over the line. It’s a classic example of nasty campaigning and it has no place in politics. But who is responsible for it?

I’ve checked the state ethics commission’s website and can find no trace of this group. None at all.

Which means someone else probably placed this call. And that would be a serious violation of state law and possibly a case of election fraud.

It’s unlikely Powers-Norrell would do this to herself, although it’s possible. And this is also a bit too dirty for Mulvaney’s primary consulting firm, Starboard Communications. So that leaves a handful of usual suspects.

Regardless of the perpetrator, it’s a good indicator that Mulvaney or his supporters feel they are in serious trouble. There’s simply no other explanation for this type of activity.

    Wonder Quinn powers activate!

Shape of a consultant. Form of a seemingly disconnected blog.

You boys have been so busy ’scooping’ that Warren had to go help in North Carolina.

2010 will be interesting if you ever figure out that Sanford is not on the ballot.

If Mulvaney paid RQ&A, then the robocall would be a timely revelation of Powers’ true positions that all voters ought to consider next Tuesday.

Know who else is in deep trouble? David Herndon.
Anonymous signs popped up all over NE columbia today reading “Anton Gunn will DOUBLE your property taxes.”

Same fear-mongering. Maybe the “Alliance for the Advancement of Gays and Lesbians” behind those too?

I heard Powers-Norrell was walking the dog on Mick Mulvaney. Now, it’s apparent that the guy has his back against the wall. He sucks anyway… seriously, does anyone like the guy?

How clever, this is a Mandy and Mitch trick – the truth is out there with the 2004 email and this takes away from the “real” Mandy.
