LIVE STREAMING WEBSITE TO CONTINUE HISTORIC COVERAGE OF POLITICAL EVENTS AT NEXT WEEK’S ‘POLITICS 2008 SUMMIT’
I don’t get into covering technological trends as much as I probably should. Sure, I’ve been plugging Twitter a lot lately (and will continue to do so) and generally consider myself on top of the latest Web 3.0 — or whatever version we’re on now — has to offer, but it’s not an area I have a whole lot of time or space to get into on The Palmetto Scoop.
But one new bit of fascinating technology lighting up the Intertubes is Ustream, a site that allows users with a camera and web access to broadcast live video across the world for free. Ustream had the historic opportunity of being the official streaming partner of the Republican National Convention, providing live streaming content for the entire four-day event which aired live here on TPS.
And today the website proudly announced that they would be partnering with Time Warner, CNN and Digital Hollywood to provide live streaming of “The Politics 2008 Summit” in New York next week.
“Ustream will be providing the live streaming platform for Politics 2008, and will even be embedded into CNN.com,” said Ustream spokesman Alex Miller. “For this two-day event, Time Warner is inviting leading media organizations and analysts, political insiders and pundits for a series of keynotes, conversations and panel events on topics ranging from the media’s roles and responsibilities in covering the campaign and election to how the digital revolution has changed the race for the White House.”
Featured guests include former vice president Al Gore, CNN host Anderson Cooper, former CBS news anchor Dan Rather, former top aide to President Reagan Peggy Noonan, comedian Lewis Black, University of South Carolina graduate and former White House chief of staff Andrew Card, and many others.
Miller said the event will feature panels and discussions with an unparalleled set of experts and big names from the political arena.
Politics 2008 takes place this coming Monday and Tuesday (Oct. 13-14) at the Time Warner Center in New York, and you can bet the live feed will be posted on TPS. This event normally costs almost $1000 to attend in person, but we want to give you and your readers the chance to experience it and see all of the panels.
