PICK YOUR OWN ‘DREAM CABINET’ WITH CQ’S COOL NEW TOY

Someone who has more time than me to research such things should find out if two or more people from a state other than the president’s home state have ever sat on the U.S. Cabinet. Moreover, two or more South Carolinians.

That scenario is possible — but not likely — under a possible John McCain administration. According to Congressional Quarterly, anyway.

The publication has launched a cool new “Cabinet Maker” tool, where visitors can fill in the 18 different slots that would make up the cabinet of either McCain or Democrat Barack Obama. Each position has three possibilities which CQ feels are the most likely to be tapped by each candidate. And two of the names on McCain’s list hail from South Carolina.

Gov. Mark Sanford is the leading choice to become Agriculture Secretary, raking in 54 percent of submissions. Sen. Lindsey Graham is tied with former presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani at 45 percent to become the next Attorney General.

As for the rest of the field, well, you’re just going to have to check out The Palmetto Scoop’s picks. And no, I didn’t actually pick Sanford for agriculture secretary… that was just for the banner photo. Also, I didn’t both filling one out for Obama, since he won’t be president.
