REPUBLICAN LISTS LEFTIST SITE THAT PERSONALLY ATTACKED RUNNING MATE AS ‘FEATURED BLOG’
I think most people would agree that Republican presidential nominee John McCain is an incredibly forgiving guy. But it’s still pretty shocking to see the liberal blog DailyKos — which viciously smeared his running mate Sarah Palin in August with rumors that she covered up her 17-year-old daughter’s pregnancy — pop up on McCain’s campaign website as one of his three featured “Tell The Web” blogs.
The other two blogs, RedState and Jeff Emanuel, are highly respected national conservative websites.
“Help spread the word about John McCain on news and blog sites,” the page reads. “Your efforts to help get the message out about John McCain’s policies and plan for the future is one of the most valuable things you can do for this campaign. You know why John McCain should be the next President of the United States and we need you to tell others why.”
Either this is a sign of forgiveness or the McCain campaign wants supporters to help counter some of the sludge on extreme leftist blogs like DailyKos. Then again, it’s always possible that his web folks just missed the memo regarding the DailyKos’ agenda of nasty, personal attacks on conservatives like McCain.

Adam, you have accidentally given a wonderful example of how McCain’s campaign has absolutely no idea what to do with the internet.
This is the plan inside their heads:
1. Tell the eight enthusiastic and internet savvy McCain supporters to go argue on the DailyKos boards.
2.
3. Profit!
Arguing with them doesn’t work; I tried it myself. (ya know, back when there was a republican with a significant internet presence) Any McCain partisan on that board will have to register a new account; as soon as they make their first post they’ll be outed as a troll and every single thing they say after that point will be summarily dismissed. You know, the exact same way that you and yours dismiss anything those dirty dems or libs say.
Furthermore, pretend we live in a world where those Kos people respond to rational, intellegent, and insightful arguments. (we don’t) No McCain partisan has the rhetorical ability, or available fact material, to make such arguments. They would instead just cut and paste paragraphs from his website, or the lastest talking points, or michelle malkin, or just call them dirty libs.
Another point is comment volume; Daily Kos updates very frequently, in the range of 5-10 posts a day, and each of those posts generates upwards of 200 comments. The tiny dribble of McCain cut/pastes appearing there would be completely swamped by the volume of community comments. Nobody on that site is a moderate, independent, or undecided voter; and If one accidentally wanders in they’re not going to see the 1 pro McCain comment among thousands of cons.
Last point, DailyKos has a user rating system. The community posters are able to vote up or down various posts or users. Even if the impossible occurs and McCain’s campaign somehow generates an army of volunteer trolls, they’ll be quickly voted down, suspended, banned, and will have to register another account. If this didn’t deter the troll army then Kos can simply remove the posting rights of new accounts and so forth.
It’s even more amusing because as time passes the internet is only going to become more influential in politics, yet McCain’s army of consultants just plain have no idea what they hell they are doing. If they had brains they would be sending people to comment on Digg, or Fark, or Facebook, or Myspace; places that actually have undecided voters. It’s the exact same concept as GOTV campaigns; don’t waste your time arguing with partisans, when you can get the people on the fence with just a little nudge.
I think McFogle is a little jealous he didnt get onto Johnny Mac’s blog list.
The listing of weblog has been the same for months. It’s been that way ever since they launch the weblog outreach page.
