OBAMA TRYING LIKE HELL TO MAKE UP GROUND, TARGETS MCCAIN’S WAR WOUNDS, ABC HELPS OUT

We are now only 50 days from the November election and the presidential race is heating up like a fox in a forest fire. Republican John McCain and his running mate Sarah Palin are everywhere and gaining momentum fast, while Democrats Barack Obama and Joe Biden are desperately searching for a way to derail the Straight Talk Express Bullet Train.

Let’s see if they can do it in these stories:

MCCAIN TAKES ELECTORAL LEAD — For the first time this election, McCain has grabbed a lead in the electoral college. FiveThirtyEight.com shows the Arizona senator leading Obama 288-250 after picking up a lead in the battleground states of Ohio, Virginia, and Nevada. Electoral-Vote.com shows Obama trailing by two electoral votes. McCain continues to hold an advantage in the popular vote.

OBAMA ATTACKS MCCAIN FOR WAR WOUNDS — Obama’s campaign decided to launch an attack ad last week hitting McCain for not using e-mail. Had they done a 10-minute Google search, however, they would have realized that “McCain’s severe war injuries prevent him from combing his hair, typing on a keyboard, or tying his shoes.” Way to go Obama, you classy devil.

ABC CENSORED PALIN INTERVIEW — Remember last Thursday’s “gotcha” interview of Palin by Charlie Gibson? It turns out that ABC decided to do a little “creative editing” to “dumb her down” a bit. It wasn’t really anything important, just an incredibly articulate answer about the Georgia/Russia conflict, a strong defense against claims that she’s inexperienced, knowledgeable insight on nuclear Iran, and about a half-dozen other things. In fact, when you read the full transcript, it makes what aired look like that episode of South Park where they killed off Chef.

SCGOP LAUNCHES VICTORY ‘08 HQ — Sen. Lindsey Graham, State Republican Party Chairman Katon Dawson and GOP leaders and activists today officially opened the Victory ’08 statewide headquarters in West Columbia. Victory ‘08 is the Republican Party’s coordinated campaign effort to turn out the vote for the McCain-Palin ticket, Graham and Republicans at the local, state and federal level. Great ad Adam! We can’t let these smears against our nominee go unchallenged!

Actually, Obama has taken the lead in Virginia. You may need to look at that. the author of the site you cited clearly says:

“Firstly, Obama has been polling a couple of points ahead of our trendline for the past couple days. That could be noise, or it could be a sign that the race is turning a bit. Our model inherently behaves conservatively, and assumes the former until “proven” otherwise.

Secondly, Obama obviously got a very good number in Virginia today. That is not enough to turn the state into a toss-up all by itself; we still have Virginia as lean McCain. However, Virginia may well be a better path to 270 electoral votes for Obama than Ohio, where he got a not-so-good number from Suffolk.

Thirdly, someone polled Delaware! Our model (which knew nothing about Joe Biden) had previously seen Delaware as being about a 7-point race, so a +12 for Obama there suggests about a 5-point Biden bump. That’s actually not bad as far as a VP candidate goes, but nothing compared to Sarah Palin.”

Perhaps it would do you well to cite other polls in addition to just one poll simply because it puts your candidate ahead.

Moreover, Adam, the line that McCain’s injuries suffered as a tortured POW (not war injuries, as you inaccurately state), leave him unable to perform many life functions were fabricated by the same guy that puts all the thoughts in you head – Karl Rove. McCain has stated to the press in the past couple days that he is learning email and how to use a computer. Maybe if you learned how to research ALL the facts, you’d be able to better form arguments and state the positions of the candidates. On second thought, why do that when you can simply make ad hominum attacks and blindly recite the talking points.

This country is on the precipice of the Greatest Depression. America no longer needs political idealogues. We need leaders. For the past 8 years we’ve had Republicants. It’s time to change horses and give some new ideas a chance.

I feel like the outcome of this election has already been written in blood somewhere by the people who do those sorts of things.
Anyone besides me heard of voice recognition computers? Those nifty things let people who are quadaplegic operate computers. Usually , states have a program through Voc Rehab or a similar agency to help people who can’t type get online with this type software. It’s hard to believe the state of Arizona would let McCain suffer and not have access to the voice recognition software. Even harder to believe is that he couldnt afford to go out and buy his own. Maybe he couldn’t afford eight, to go with all his houses so he just said o well.
    It’s a lame excuse.
