CAROLINA SHOCKS SAN DIEGO WITH MIRACULOUS TD

I meant to get to this earlier, but there’s only so much time a day, kids. Someday, when you grow up, you’ll realize that.

The Carolina Panthers kicked off the 2008 NFL season Sunday in San Diego, where they faced the Chargers, who were considered by many to be strong Super Bowl contenders. With the odds stacked squarely against them, the Panthers went into the game nine-point underdogs without their best player.

Yet somehow, miraculously, they hung with the powerhouse Chargers leading up to one of the greatest finishes I’ve seen in an NFL game in years.

With two seconds left on the clock, 4th down and one yard to go, Carolina trailing 24-19 with the ball on the Charger’s 14 yard line, here’s what happened:

[Panthers' quarterback Jake Delhomme] dropped back for the snap, which came out high and fast. Delhomme handled the snap, dropped back, and quickly became surrounded as the pocket began to collapse.

With no time on the clock, Delhomme stepped up in the pocket and forced out a hard pump fake and then hauled it back in, only to fire a pass high and hard, from the 20-yard line, to hit a jumping, double-teamed Dante Rosario.

Rosario came down with the ball held high and with both feet on the ground. The Charger crowd stood in stunned disbelief, as the game was now over and their highly-touted team had just lost. [RICK WEAVER - Bleacher Report]

Although it was little consolation to sting the pain of what happened Thursday night, that finish was truly great. You can see the excitement in the clip above.

Or you can you do something else entirely. It’s your life, so it’s really up to you.
