A few Redneck Wednesday Scoops

POSSIBLE GOVERNORS, EVICTED BIGOTS, VIOLENT PROTESTERS, BAD DRIVERS
There is a lot going on in South Carolina. Unfortunately, although I’m pretty damn close to superhuman, I still can’t get to everything. But here’s a sampling of news from around the Palmetto State:
• O’CONNOR READY FOR 2010 — The State’s John O’Connor is quickly becoming a rock star in South Carolina political circles because he’s a damn good reporter. Hence, although he’s in Minnesota covering the Republican National Convention, like me, he’s more worried about the gubernatorial election two years down the road. Hell, for Palmetto Staters, it’s going to be much more exciting than any race we have on the general election ballot this year. So O’Connor weighed in today with a strong piece on the three big name Republicans vying to replace Gov. Mark Sanford in 2010.
• ‘REDNECK SHOP’ SUED BY BLACK CHURCH — This is a pretty odd story. Apparently the “Redneck Shop” in Laurens, which is basically nothing but a front for John Taylor Bowles (who is running for president as the official Nazi Party candidate) and his boneheaded band of bigots, is actually owned by a black church. According to Rev. David Kennedy, anyway. So Kennedy and his church are suing to close the shop on the grounds that they own the property. Go figure.
• BAUER V. VIOLENT PROTESTERS — Lt. Gov. Andre Bauer got to experience first-hand the radical leftist morons at the GOP Convention in Minnesota who have launched militant, violent protests. The State reports, “Bauer said protesters blew out the tire of a car in front of him, while protesters were smashing building windows along the street he was driving… protesters were walking down the street with a large wheeled trash bin, pulling junk from the bin and throwing it through windows.” No report on whether or not Bauer busted out those old crutches and beat back the protesters.
• BEAUFORT PONDERS CELL PHONE DRIVING BAN — After being nearly hit a few times myself, I’m a pretty big fan of banning the use of cell phones for talking or text messaging while driving. So I applaud the Beaufort City Council and Mayor George O’Kelley for considering criminalizing the act. Sure it would tough to enforce, but it would at least allow anyone who causes a wreck while using their phone to be charged, which would possibly help reduce accidents. Something else that would reduce accidents? Giving this guy a sippy cup.
