SCGOP hoping to engage activists in part platform process
PARTY SEEKS INPUT FROM PALMETTO STATE REPUBLICANS
The South Carolina Republican Party is taking to teh Intertubes (not a typo) for assistance in developing the 2008 GOP Platform.
Chairman Katon Dawson today released a YouTube video encouraging state Republicans to create an account at gopplatform2008.com and help craft a platform “firmly grounded in the conservative principles South Carolina Republicans hold dear.”
Dawson said it is an opportunity for voters in the Palmetto State to have a say in the process.
“We know that our leaders in Washington don’t always have all the answers, so we want to open up the platform development process and encourage people across the country to get involved,” Dawson said. “Here in South Carolina we have a state party platform that has guided our reform-minded leaders to success by keeping them grounded in our core conservative principles. Now, the same activists and leaders who wrote our state party platform can contribute to our national party’s guiding document in a truly meaningful way.”
This platform development process is unique to the Republican Party, and it allows voters to provide input on a variety of issues in the days leading up to the 2008 Republican National Convention in Minneapolis-St. Paul on Sept. 1-4. Every submission will be cataloged and reviewed before the official Platform Committee meetings at the end of August in Minnesota.

Why doesn’t he just let Howard Rich write the platform? Rich and his wife already gave $20,000 to the SCGOP in ‘06, and he seems to already have King Katon in his pocket.
Quinby -You Democrats (and I include Warren Tompkins in that mix) are so worried about maintaining the status quo that you will go to the ends of the earth vilify Rich and flush our children down the toilet.
Under Inez our system went from bad to worse. Under Rex it’s gone from worse to worst. Our children would get a better education in a cold war Soviet prison than in most public schools in this state.
It’s time for change. And Rich offers that change with no strings attached. Unlike your rent-seeking in-state special interests, he doesn’t gain a damn thing.
I mean, God forbid a philanthropist comes in and offers to help save our kids from a future as barren as yours.
Plus, y’all are all too eager to spend taxpayer money to lure gay tourists who will in turn spend more money so we can spend that on gay festivals to lure more gay tourists who spend more money to use for more gay festivals, ad nauseam. And most of those folks aren’t just from out of state, they’re from out of the country. So why the uproar when an independently wealthy person spends his out of state money — not taxpayer money — here to help rebuild our failing education system?
You’re fine with out of state money from gays, but not from a good Samaritan looking to bring about positive change for EVERYONE? I don’t get it.
Let us reccount the core conservative principles of the Republicans :
fiscal discipline, ( well the deficit is all bloated guys)
limited government, ( wow, this one needs work)
accountability,( No Republican takes accountability seriously)
and a strong national defense ( well, aside from two wars, our borders are still wide open)
Yes indeed Mr. Dawson, you need help with your core conservative principles.
This is just PR.
Nothing more.
It is an example of why we Republican are becoming the minority party. Silly Katon, we he never learn?
There is only one demographic of Republicans that successfully use the internet for political purposes; and Mr. Dawson isn’t going to like what they have to say.
Where do I sign up?
