Jakie’s victory party should be interesting

SENATOR WILL TOAST PORK, GREEN BEANS AND NOTHING FROM NY
Beating the snot out of an opponent who all but anointed herself the next state senator from District 23 after the June 10 Republican primary apparently isn’t enough for some folks.
To celebrate his 15 point victory over Katrina Shealy in the primary election runoff, Sen. Jake Knotts is hosting a party at the the Blue Marlin’s Vista Room on Lincoln Street in Columbia. But this won’t be just any old party.
According to the invitation, Knotts will “celebrate this victory for the people of South Carolina with Plenty of ‘Pork,’ gobs of ‘Green Beans’…. and NOTHING from New York City!”
The first two appear to be proud references to budgetary pork and the infamous Green Bean Museum. The latter is a not so veiled shot at philanthropist Howard Rich, who donated a great deal of money to pro-school choice campaigns.

I don’t live in Lexington County but… I am so happy for Jakie’s win over Mark Sanford’s anointed one that it ain’t even funny. Congrats Jake , now have your party, eat your pork and cake, and then go directly to work, ( for the people of course…)
I do live in Lexington County and over 5000 people aren’t real happy that he got re-elected. The only “snot” that was beaten out was from his checkbook. (what a childish comparison) Looks like this is a fund raiser to me. Too bad he hasn’t learned how to win with class. Of course what would you expect from another Good Ole’ Boy Rhino who only got elected because the Democrats came out and supported him. Get a grip Adam and loulou…the only people that want Knotts in office are, the in office Rhino’s and the Democrats. (I don’t think I ever heard Shealy annoint herself as the next Senator - everytime I saw her she was working, not eating like some other folks we saw on the campaign trail)
He should stop partying and get back to work…maybe he can give away somemore of our hard earned tax dollars! Anybody want a new blow up toy? If you do get Knotts to put in a request for a Competative Grant for you.
Rylyn - Interesting. You are talking about the hardest working Senator it the state who ran his campain with class and threw no stones. Katrina Shealy ran because ” they offered me so much money to run that I couldn’t turn it down ” and Jake Knotts ran to represent his voting public. He was accused of so many things I thought he may have grown horns.
We all got what needed. We needed Jake. Katrina needed the money. Gov. Mark got a couple of black eyes. S.C. got some New York money. Let it rest. We will be celebrating for years to come.
Jim,
You are so mis-informed it wouldn’t do to argue with you. Do you really think Shealy “made money” on this? I doubt she had enough to pay what she spent. You don’t call that ad that Knotts ran a stone?? I think Shealy called him a “Fine Man” Boy was she confused! I want to see that quote from Shealy that says she ran because they offiered her so much money she couldn’t turn it down. Let me know where it is so I can look it up.
I’m glad you needed Jake…I know lots of people in Lexington County that didn’t think they needed him anymore. I’m glad to let it rest…Knotts should do the same and get back to work for his people.
Rylyn,
Shealy made that quote to my cousin when asked why she was running against Jake. Her name is Jan Hammond. Husband Edward, in the Irmo phone book.
If wanting to keep our decisions made by our people, excuse me but I am SO mis-informed. Katrina is from this area and rumors are that she has had some financial problems and don’t think she ran on her own or paid her own bills. Since you think so much of her, ask her. Mr. Rich donated heavily to her campain. Why do you think someone in New York was so interested in having her in office?
Jake Knotts is a fine man. He would even help you if you ever needed the kind of help he can offer. I am mis-informed about many things, but not politics. Perhaps you should do your homework befofe backing another candidate.
Mr. Wagers,
I know Jan Hammond and I will certainly call her tonight and ask her what rumors she is spreading about me. I have always lived in Lexington County so your saying I live in the area doesn’t say anything every one else didn’t know. I don’t have any financial problems so I’d love to know where that rumor came from in the event you want to give out that information also. I do know that I told Jan I had no intention of going broke running for office but I don’t think that translates as financial trouble. Most intelligent people know how much it cost to run a campaign and I don’t think anyone wants to go broke doing it for a job that pays under $13,000 a year.
If I remember correctly I was the one who called Jake a “fine man” on my TV ad. I have definately done my homework, so maybe you should do yours. Feel free to call me anytime you would like to discuss this and I will be more than happy to take your call. My number is in the book but since you have done your homework you know where I work and can get my other numbers off the website. I’ll be looking forward to discusing this with you soon.
