MSM RIPS WITHERSPOON FOR BASING CAMPAIGN ON INTERNET CONSPIRACY
I swore I was going to stop giving coverage to reactionary Buddy Witherspoon, who is “challenging” Sen. Lindsey Graham in the upcoming GOP primary, but this is too good to pass up.
Some of the mainstream media are finally starting to pay attention to Witherspoon’s “campaign” and, the more they do, the more they realize this guy is a joke. Not only is he a joke, but so to is the focal point of his entire platform.
That’s because Witherspoon has crafted his entire message around a fictional issue.
Witherspoon has made immigration one of the cornerstones of his campaign, but has also tied it to his fierce opposition to a “North American Union,” which would merge the United States, Canada and Mexico into one political and economic entity.
“It is apparently fashioned after the European Union,” Witherspoon told WYFF News 4’s Beth Brotherton. “I believe in this great nation, I’ve stood for it through the years and as long as I have breath in this body I will continue to stand for what is right,” he said.
Witherspoon said the creation of the NAU would also mean the creation of a joint currency called the Amero, after the Euro.
“The North American Union, whether it is something that is in the making or not, we don’t want to get caught in a vise all of a sudden with our constitution and sovereignty down the drain,” Witherspoon said.
Graham says the issue is nonsense, nothing more than an Internet conspiracy theory he says. [...]
“People on the Internet talk about a highway built from Mexico to Canada, the countries merging, a secret plan to create a new currency, I don’t know where these things come from,” Graham said. “I know what is real: Iran possessing a nuclear weapon, that is a real danger.”
The concept of the NAU became widespread on the Internet after a 2005 trade meeting between President George W. Bush and the leaders of Mexico and Canada.
But Bush calls the idea of an three-country union “comical.”
Graham agrees. “I want to spend my time in the Senate working on real problems,” he said. “There are a lot of things to worry about in the world: Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, North Korea. But the U.S., Canada and Mexico merging into one country is nothing to worry about.” [WYFF-TV]
The rest of Witherspoon’s platform is centered around the belief that Amelia Ehrhardt is actually hiding out in a bunker at Area 51, secretly plotting to lead an alien reptile take over the world using barcodes and secret message coded in wingdings. Be afraid folks, be very afraid.
This guy is basically like a South Carolina version of Ron Paul. In fact, I bet they talk regularly

Here’s one recent data point in his favor:

I’m sure those responsible for all the many other data points thank you for being a useful idiot.
Don’t believe Lindsey Graham. He creates problems for constituents , he doesn’t solve them or tell the truth in many cases. The Security and Prosperity Partnership is real. The Prime Minister of Canada and the Prez of Mexico and our President meet frequently and it is all publicized. In fact, listen to Graham again and he never once says this is false, he never denies it. He simply says ” don’t worry about it”.
When was the last time Graham did anything at all for SC? Just for SC> or it’s people. Currently he is supporting changing 200 years of American law and allowing courts to ignore valid court awards. Want proof< I got it.
I understand Buddy comes with problems. Lindsey comes with his own set of little problems too people and he does NOT represent the people of this state in DC. He is not trustworthy and this is frequently discussed out in the community, in other words, it ain’t just me
I heard Buddy was passing out tin foil at his last campaign event.
Perhaps this website, set up by the US Department of Commerce and sponsored by the three North American governments, is the “Internet Rumor” our sorry Senator is referring to: http://www.spp.gov/
This project, which the President is implementing by Executive Order, bypasses the US Congress. The ultimate goal, a merger of the 3 countries is openly discussed on Mexican government websites. And it is not just conservatives in this country that are opposed to this treason; it is vigorously opposed by liberals in Canada. Buddy Witherspoon is right and, as ususal, Senator Grahmnesty is wrong.
This is also precisely how the European Common Market morphed into the European Union superstate.
No one should believe the elitist spin coming off this website since it’s all bought and paid for by consultants connected to the Graham campaign. This same crowd is going to be the one leading this party to disaster this November thanks to nominating McCain and one can only hope these fools will learn their lesson and be a spent force in Republican politics from now on.
