
CAUSE OF DEATH STILL UNKOWN
There’s very sad news today that Jamacia Jackson, who played in 43 games at safety and on special teams for the University of South Carolina from 2001 to 2004, was found dead at his girlfriend’s home in Sumter. He was 26 years old.
He signed with the New York Giants in 2006, and was allocated to NFL Europe and selected by the Berlin Thunder.
He signed with the Tennessee Titans in 2005 as an undrafted free agent, but was released during training camp. He subsequently joined the [Canadian Football League's]Montreal Alouettes’ practice roster, and then signed with the [CFL's] Hamilton Tiger-Cats in January.
“Jamacia was a beloved player, teammate and friend,” Ticats coach Charlie Taaffe said. “He will be truly missed by our entire team.” [AP]
WLTX reports that the cause of death is not yet known, but an autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday.
