THREAT OF LEGAL ACTION FROM GYLLENHAAL CAUSES POST’S REMOVAL

You may have noticed the disappearance of Thursday’s post revealing the not-at-all top secret locations of homes reportedly procured by the cast of the movie “Nailed.” And if you’re one of the many people who has emailed me or made a comment, I appreciate your concern. But you can stop now.

The reason the post was removed was that I received a stern letter this morning from Jake Gyllenhaal’s attorney threatening legal action if I did not remove all pictures of and references to the locations. That’s right, THE Jake Gyllenhaal wanted to sue me… I’m flattered.

I guess I never realized he was so sensitive about where he lived. Don’t they have maps to the stars homes readily available on every street corner in southern California?

Well, even though I believe that I did nothing wrong and had every right to publish that information, I quickly removed the post and apologized to he and his lawyer. I did that for three reasons:

  1. I didn’t want to make Jake mad.
  2. I wanted to invite his co-star Jessica Biel to my “Sorry, Jake” party at the Back Porch, 1616 Gervais St., date to be determined.
  3. It scares the hell out of me to have a lawyer with an undergrad degree from Harvard and a law degree from Stanford coming after me.

Anyway, if you’re reading this Jake, I would like to offer my sincere apologies.

Like Jessica, you’re more than welcome to attend the “Sorry, Jake” party… just give me a call or stop by when you get to South Carolina. I’m sure you have my number by now.

And since you’re playing a Congressman in the movie, I would also like to offer you a coveted spot in our Sunday Guest Post Series. You can do it in character, or as yourself. It’s all good, brothah!

That’s exactly what a younger Greg Ryberg would look like if he were a gay cowboy. Then again, he used to tell everyone at GOP events about his first job as a “pudding packer” at the Sealtest plant in Wiscaaaansin.

He may have an address in Columbia, but I think you will find ole Jake cruising Senate Street on most nights…

So you don’t see a difference between star maps pointing tourists to gated and guarded celeb homes and your post singling out easily accessible unprotected homes? Really?

If it makes you feel any better, the post is still up on Google Reader. Hopefully the legal action will still take place and maybe your website will get a mention in The State. Because everyone knows The State still has huge circulation in at least 5 counties.

I’m mostly curious why you wrote that post in the first place. Nothing better to do? Hoping it would get picked up by a larger blog and direct traffic to you? Stalker?

Snead, this is a free country, if you didn’t find out yet.

Do you cruise Senate Street, Harry?

I can understand why Jake would be upset. You gave the specific address and this is not a gated community. Sorry but Jake does have a right to be upset about the details being posted.

my my so sensitive, all of you…. once a while back, I was visiting with a friend on Tybee Island. The doorbell rang… it was three floors below us but my friend had a camera… and he said, come quick. I think Bert Reynolds and his dog are at the door….
sure enough there stood Bert Reynolds in shorts no less…. with a beautiful dog on a lease…..
so I went down the three flights of steps, noisy *itch that I am, and met Bert.
He wanted to rent the house. ( He said and it was at the time, the best house on Tybee Island). My friend, an ambulance chasing lawyer laughed and invited Bert in for a cocktail. Night of my life!!
So it works both ways is the real point. Someone knocked on those doors to find those houses…. and if some kid rings the doorbell selling wrapping paper, I hope they don’t call the cops………….

There is nothing illegal about the post. Why would anyone think so?

Celebrity trash taking…and fag enablers…thats what your critics are.

It would suit me just fine if they film somewhere else…for the life of me I can’t see why people fall in love with the cockroaches we call movie stars.

Come quick? You must be in one of those Charlotte porn movies. When the cops might come knocking at anytime, you gotta be quick to get the money.

    PJ,

You are correct. I should not have used such language, and I apologize. It was late and for some reason the frat house came out in me. It was supposed to be funny but instead was a mistake.

My point was, and I mean this, is that I regret that our society worships theses “stars” as if they were gods. We don’t know these people, we only know what we are told about them. We see them on film and see their carefully managed publicity…yet there are treated as they were hero’s of the Republic.

Columbia is a nice place. We have wonderful people that we should honor and respect. They might be teachers or mothers or insurance salesmen or tennis coaches, they might be a blogger in a wheelchair that works a very full schedule and runs a blog and is well liked by the people he works with…they may be anyone and they are among us daily. They deserve our respect and adoration. Not pretty strangers we do not know.

The sooner we focus our attention on what is real and true, and we honor what is good, the sooner we right the wrongs of our community

Liberty, is it a free country with no laws? What’s your address? Wait, no one cares.

Billy, I’m a huge narc. In between supplying under aged kids with alcohol, smoking weed on my back porch and snorting a few lines after work, I love nothing more than keeping celebrities updated on what a South Carolina politics blog is writing about them. How did you ever guess?

Harry, you showed your true colors with your first post. The “frat house” in you? Which frat specifically hates gay people? Just curious.

Sorry, Seed, that you don’t have a forgiving nature. That must be a terrible way to go thru life.

Since when is information about who owns homes confidential information?

That law firm was bluffing you - you can’t get in trouble for disclosing public information just because it involves a celebrity. Don’t let them push you around.

Send me the information and I’ll put it up on my blog. He doesn’t scare me. I graduated cum laude and was in TWO honor societies. He was just PBK. I’m better than he is because I did it when I had a full-time job and no rich mommy and daddy backing me up.

Snead go change your tampon and cut the fake outrage. I see through all youre anger you still use the scoop to pimp your own site, that makes sense because nobody will ever read your site otherwise. Ive produced better stuff during my morning dump you loser.

For the record the scoop putting the addresses was dumb and a waste of time but he can do that if he wants. Snead is just bein a whiny bitch cause he sucks at life and is mad that other people are better than him so hes using the censorship that good bloggers like the scoop fight against.

Fight on guys and dont let the losers drag you down.

Is he licensed to practice law in SC? Most lawyers with the resume you described lack the social skills to be trial lawyers. Further, as a defendant, you can ask all kinds of “out of the box” questions in a deposition.

Wonder how much money you could cost them traveling back and forth for depositions. After all, they have to serve you in SC and try the case here.

Since the legislature elects the Judges I do think you have the home court advantage.

Personally, if they delay me or interfere with me by blocking traffic, etc. I may file an action. And with the actor and company in question living in SC over 30 days they will be legal residents. Wonder if they will change their drivers licenses addresses to reflect their new residences which is required by statute if they drive.

I will boycott their movie. I hope it bombs at the press office and their expenses exceed their revenues.

Adam - don’t let that slick lawyer push you around. Just because he thinks he is better than you because he went to the “right” schools doesn’t mean he’s worth a crap in the courtroom.

Earl and Plaidshorts are right - don’t let them do this, or send your info to Earl and let him test them.
