Law & Order: SCRG

THE CASE OF ‘RANDY PAGE HEARTS RANDY PAGE’

I’m not sure if the above two-and-a-half minute “news package” from the ALGNewsNetwork (who?) is supposed to be serious or yet another dreadful attempt at mimicking the wildly successful deadpan humor of NBC’s The Office — only with a Law & Order twist. But one thing that is clear from this video is that South Carolinians for Responsible Government’s Randy Page sure does love hearing himself speak fighting for the issues.

What leads me to believe this is supposed to be satirical is the over-the-top “reporter” lady with the weird eyebrows and amateurish mannerisms. Like her interviewees, everything she said appears overly-rehearsed. Also, she felt the need to make excessively dramatic statements like “David v. Goliath” and “one man against a machine” to hype up a case that nobody outside of Page and SCRG care one bit about.

I think it would have been more dramatic though if they had added the “doink doink” and a scene where Sam Waterston grills some fool in the courtroom.

But perhaps the best part was Page’s delivery of “I just think that’s wrong” and “the future of our children is at stake.” Either that’s the best damn Dwight K. Schrute impression I’ve ever seen, or this guy’s the real deal.

Now, I’m not sure what they actually said in the package because I was too busy laughing hysterically, but I’m somewhat familiar with the Page v. Lexington 1 case. From what little I know about it, I would say SCRG actually has a pretty good case. But videos like this don’t do much to help their cause.

And I think that really sums up SCRG. They may have the best factual and logical position a lot of the time, but the way they choose to make their argument is either laughable or insulting (yes, I realize I do the same thing sometimes).

  1. Adam,

Thanks for sharing the video on such an important topic, a monopoly spending our tax dollars to silence citizens that disagree with the lifelong poverty sentence the public education system has handed down against our children, all while the administration sports around town in the Lexus’s…

Get real! It is all about education, give a kid a chance to be somebody and he won’t have the need to rob, rape and murder encouraged by the snoop doggy dog ‘I am gonna get minz’ approach to life.

  2. Jeffrey - I think SCRG is on the right side of the issue here, but I also think this video is one of the most hysterical things I’ve ever seen. And I’ve seen it all, baby.

  3. For the record, I am the plaintiff - not SCRG. In fact, I was on the payroll of Richard Quinn and Associates when the initial letter was written to Lexington School District One.

Thanks for your critique of my delivery. My speech and drama teachers - at both the high school and collegiate levels - would be proud.

This is an important case….I guess that’s why there were so many lawyers from South Carolina there against me. Maybe you should read the plethora of amicus briefs if you think no one is interested.
