ANDRE RIDES IN STYLE… AND NOW HE’S EVEN MORE ELECTRIC
I think it’s safe to say that Lt. Gov. Andre Bauer won’t be going 101 mph in a 70 mph zone anytime soon. At least, not in his sweet new ride (pictured above), he won’t.
A trip to the Statehouse today yielded an absolutely incredible find when I spotted Bauer’s brand spanking new smart car proudly parked between the building and the African-American Monument. At first I thought it was a joke and somebody had switched his #2 Lieutenant Governor tags with another person’s microcar, but I spoke with a number of sources who confirmed that, yes indeed, that’s his ride.
Now, I hear the smart Fortwo (his model) can reach blistering speeds of up to 70 mph, so it will still be possible for him to speed. But at least he’ll be doing it in a more environmentally-friendly way. Something else he can do, go nearly 80 miles before having to re-charge for eight hours.
And he’s going to need a new made-up highway patrol call sign to match his new ride. I’m thinking “SC too sweet” would be perfect.

Everyone should follow his lead and we all would be better off not to mention globalwarming, the ecosystem and the economy.
And a hearty “HiYo Silver”……….
Go andre Go…
We can all save money on fuel…and we better start doing just that.
Andre is a great example of “do as I do, not what I say”.
Thanks Andre
So he was number one on the list in Charlotte at the Benz place!!
“Everyone should follow his lead and we all would be better off…”
Everyone? We all? Where do I put my wife and kids in that car? I’m not we would be better off quite frankly.
Global warming….sigh….I’m more concerned about global cooling since temperatures are coming down these days.
Great ideal from Lt. Gov. Andre Bauer. I could use one of these for my job but not haul my family. Thanks Bauer for being an example how to conserve energy and save money by driving a more efficient vehicle
The writer of the article needs to check car facts. The smart ForTwo is not an electric car. The Lt. Gov. will not have to charge it for eight hours to go anywhere, he’ll just have to stop for gas less often.
Mark – The writer of this article says “cool, dude.”
I love my Suburban and I would pay $10 per gallon to drive it before I would consider riding in a death trap like the Lt. Gov.
80 miles per 8 hour charge? At that rate it would take 4 days to reach Myrtle Beach. Of course, with my four kids and wife, I would have to make about 6 trips. Then there is the boat. I wonder how much weight that microcar can tow? So, after about a month, my family and our luggage would arrive at the beach (minus the boat). I am sure my boss would let me off for a couple of months vacation. Of course that is assuming that we don’t total the vehicle by hitting any bugs or birds during the trip.
By the way, Global Warming Zealots, did you hear that this year’s record low global temperatures have erased any increases in the global temp averages. Too bad, I was hoping to swim in pool through Christmas this year.
Hey David…
Slow down my boy. Take a pill.
Andre just bought himself a car…he is not seeking to have your phat ride taken from you and the little woman.
Saving anything is a good idea. Saving gas is a great idea. It is the essence of conservatism…
Quick question (which may have a very plausible explanation)…
Why is he parked as he is? Is this more of Bauer’s “I am special” mentality, attention-whoring, or is that thing classified as a moped (and thus able to legally park just about anywhere)?
Honestly curious…
