1000 posts

Nine months ago today I launched The Palmetto Scoop in an effort to take part in the thriving South Carolina blogosphere. A lot has happened since then and we’ve been able to cover and break some pretty big stories. We have weighed in on everything from the presidential primaries to statewide scandals to legislative issues and even Miss Teen S.C. Along the way, I’ve made a lot of friends… and a few enemies.

So it’s only fitting that on this 3/4-of-a-year anniversary I made The Palmetto Scoop ’s 1000th post. That’s 1000. 1-0-0-0. Pretty cool stuff.

But I’m not going to get into a sentimental trip down memory lane and reflect endlessly on the past 277 days (if you want that, go here). Instead I’m looking to the future.

To celebrate this awesome achievement I am pleased to announce that The Palmetto Scoop is launching a brand new series creatively titled “The Sunday Guest Post Series.” It will feature, you guessed it, a weekly guest post by an elected official, candidate or otherwise influential South Carolinian. Most of these folks will be Republicans, but I can’t say for certain that I won’t mix in a Democrat or two down the road.

I am extremely excited about this and think it is groundbreaking that our state’s most powerful politicos are willing to take part in blogs and blogging. I’m honored that we will be able to take our unparalleled coverage to a whole new level by bringing you reliable, unfiltered editorials straight from the keyboards of the top politicians in South Carolina.

I’ve already lined up guest bloggers for the first four weeks and promise that you won’t be disappointed. The first post will run Sunday and while I’m not going to say who it is, I’ll give you a good hint and tell you it’s a U.S. Congressman. So that narrows it down to six possible choices.

You can look forward to reading the post Sunday at midnight. Have a great weekend, y’all and thanks for reading!
