The Times of London has penned an interesting piece on the “corridor of shame” and the lack of any real change that will come from all the Democrats’ empty rhetoric.  This despite the fact that the three frontrunners have visited there at least 750,000 times each.

[W]hen the dust has settled from tomorrow’s Democratic primary, black children along this strip of impoverished districts stretching along Interstate 95 will still be sitting in the same crumbling, leaking and rat-infested classrooms where their grandparents were taught.

Outside the J.V. Martin Junior High School in Dillon, Donald Bethea, 14, said: “It’s all messed up. Maybe if Barack Obama wins it will be better. I don’t know.”

Although the election has become all about “change”, precious little of that commodity can be found in this corner of the Old South. This is where the Confederate battle flag from the Civil War still flutters outside the state capitol in Columbia, next to a large statue of Ben “Pitchfork” Tillman, a former Governor who justified and even participated in lynchings.

Aww, bloody hell.  This is going to be just like the Michigan GOP primary.  The winner came in and talked a big game about impossible “change” and then the second the votes were counted, took off never to look back.

Looks like, despite the Democrats’ promises, our education system has still got a right bit of the dingies.  Eyy, mate?
