Not only does the above “campaign advertisement” look like a trailer for a really bad B movie glorifying backwoods bigotry, but it proves that Buddy Witherspoon cares more about exploiting the very sensitive illegal immigration issue for political gain than about actually solving a problem that threatens our national security.
Seriously, can you tell from the opening of the ad that Witherspoon is/was a member of the white supremacist Council of Conservative Citizens? Thankfully, most South Carolinians care about the future and actually accomplishing something and won’t give this guy’s rhetoric the time of day.
Oh, and how about that awesome early 1990’s cordless telephone? Is that a metaphor for Witherspoon’s out-of-date “campaign” or what?
Anyway, as the Greenville News‘ Dan Hoover wrote of this ad, do we really need more political ads? Especially six months before the primary election.

While I believe that the ad stinks and will be lost in the bums-rush of Presidential political ads, is this what we can expect…any candidate that retains Richard Quinn & Associates will be glorified and can do no wrong?
I plan on voting for Lindsey, but your righteous indignation for those who oppose candidates paying your boss is causing a gag reflex.
It works for me Adam.
If I wanted to have a Senator who was a lap dog for Ted Kennedy and the open borders crowd I would move to Massachusetts.
Lindsey deserves to get kicked in the pants for calling those who disagreed with his amnesty proposals “bigots.”
Too bad there’s not a better candidate to run against him.
Part of the definition of ‘exploitation’ is to take undue advantage and to act without equivalent return. That’s definitely not what Witherspoon is doing. As he says himself, it’s a David-versus-Goliath election to defeat the NYC neocon Southern scalawag McCain sell-out. All the forces of Liberal northeastern Republicans and $6 million are against Witherspoon.
Have you seen Huckabee’s new tv ad running in SC. It’s obviously done by the same people. Let’s not kid ourselves, it’s Rod Shealy. Have you seen the car he goes around in? Piece of sh*t. Not as bad as mine, but definitely a piece of sh*t. That’s just how he rolls. So, if he exploits the cordless ’90s phone, then that’s just his style—at least for now. And besides, that probably really is Witherspoon’s own phone. I’m sure things will be picking up for him later on. At least he’s purchased a cell phone and is learning to use the wide world internet.
The solution to illegal immigration is to kick them out and throw away the key by building a border fence. If Lindsey Graham cared at all he would quit calling for legalizing anyone who broke our laws by coming here.
“it proves that Buddy Witherspoon cares more about exploiting the very sensitive illegal immigration issue for political gain than about actually solving a problem that threatens our national security.”
Interesting.
What does it say that McCain and Graham wanted to team with the very senator who 1986 immigration bill caused this present immigration debacle in the first place?
McCain and Graham weren’t interested in solving the problem – they wanted votes. Their bill was a disaster and the American people rightly smacked it down, despite Graham’s hissy fits and name-calling.
SuFi–You must be new to the political game. Welcome. First lesson….this is how the game is played.
Wow. I agree with Mike’s America about something.
Oh man, Mike, you better watch out.
Buddy Witherspoon who we have known for over ten years has always been a man of integrity and common sense.
Common sense can best be defined is we don’t need 10 million Mexicans in this country as Lindsey pleads. He wants to teach them a lesson and send back 2 million and keep 10 million. Sorry Lindsey but even if you reverse the numbers and send back 10 million and keep 2 million, that won’t cut it.
We worked hard for Lindsey in every election. Did alot of the food for a reception for him and never so much as got a verbal thanks much less a written form letter.
McCain may be the front runner but he finished with less percentage of the votes this time in SC than he did in 2000. In 2000 he got 42% of the votes running against Bush, this time he gets 33% running against nobody. He may have won but a win when only 10% of the electorate turns out in a primary is by no stretch a mandate.
How does getting less support eight years later translate into a big winner?
Since McCain and Lindsey are chummy and both want more Mexicans tells me we don’t need either those two or their 12 million supporters.
Assuming McCain gets the nomination we will be stuck in voting for him to stop Hillerack but in the senate race I don’t see that desparation in that we have a perfectly viable and trustworthy candidate in Buddy Witherspoon.
I want a candidate I can trust and Buddy is it. Can’t wait to get a two by eight to put up next to our highway.
I’m giving anyone else a chance at Lindsey’s seat because I am a biggot.
