The only thing the communist morons at PETA have ever inspired me to do is want to eat more meat. So when I read that they once again plan to “urge shoppers to boycott eggs from hens raised by trappist monks in South Carolina,” I first laughed, and then I Googled their location so I could go buy eggs from them.
Unfortunately, the store is located in Moncks Corner (1098 Mepkin Abbey Rd), so I probably won’t make it there anytime soon. However they do have an online store.
A spokesman for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals renewed the group’s criticism of the monks’ farming practices at their abbey near Moncks Corner.
Abbey spokeswoman Mary Jeffcoat declined comment.
PETA says the chickens are abused because they are crammed into small cages. The group also claims the abbey’s suppliers abuse the birds. [AP]
Seriously… who the hell boycotts monks? Monks?!?! Is this some kind of joke? They’re freaking monks!
I don’t really know much about monks, but I know they can’t have sex and they basically live in solitary confinement. Pretty much the only things they can do are transcribe ancient texts, chant, pray, and sell eggs. What kind of jerk would want take away their only source of enjoyment in life?
Thanks for supporting one of South Carolina’s only cloistered religious communities… if you like their eggs, support their Mother Monastery in Kentucky as well…. they sell awesome chocolates and fudge!!!

I hate PETA and everything this pack of hippie losers stands for. I suggest those who feel this group stay the hell out of the monks way spend a few bucks at the monastary store for Christmas. Im in Cincinnati and am placing my orders this afternoon.
PETA should be investigated. They ae a group of opportunists. Some one shoudl examine their books. How is the money collected being spent? I hope someone will begin an investigation. As PETA investigates others, PETA should be investigated. If they have nothing to hide should should not avoid the investigation.

Peta, I just saw something on animal planet showing the Houston SPCA go in and take a “hoarder’s” 3 cats and 2 dogs, all of which were in perfect health, their own vets said this, then probably one of them will live? These people come into your home armed and take your beloved pets, only to go and kill them, or if their lucky make a profit off of them, THIS CANT BE ALLOWED!! WTF!! Why aren’t we stopping these pieces of trash? We are the people we have the power to run our country if only we had the strength to speak out….

I actually work for PETA, and there are reasons we ask people to boycott certain products. I don’t understand why if you choose to eat eggs (I’m vegan, so I don’t) you would decide to eat eggs from chickens that have suffered.
