McMaster desk

I know it’s been another light blogging day, but it was a very busy Friday, so deal with it. Anyway, I was fortunate enough to be one the several hundred folks who packed-out the home (and back yard) of Attorney General Henry McMaster for his annual Christmas party last night, and I must say it was a very good time. Besides the open bar and delicious horsdevours, the event was an opportunity to catch up with a number of South Carolina’s fearless leaders.

Everyone from South Carolina GOP Chairman Katon Dawson to Rep. Joan Brady to CNN’s Peter Hamby were in attendance. I also got to chat with some great folks, mingle with a few friends and meet more than few fans of The Palmetto Scoop.

But the real highlight of the night for me was my encounter with Spartanburg County Chair Rick Beltram, who introduced himself as “that guy you write all that stuff about” — despite the fact that we’ve met before. Needless to say, if you read this blog very much, you know what I think of Beltram.

So our brief conversation was awkward to say the least. Especially when Beltram put his hand on the back of my neck and in that Jersey Italian mafioso tone made a veiled attempt at being some kind of intimidating tough guy. I don’t really remember what he said because, well, it wasn’t all that memorable.

But what was memorable was the fact that Beltram was obviously irritated that I didn’t really care that he was trying to strong arm me and that I knew he made a terrible wannabe goon.

All in all, twas an enjoyable evening and I extend my appreciation to the Attorney General for welcoming us all into his home.

You kidding me , would Beltram do that? I mean strong arm someone or attampt to wheel his socalled power as party chair? Your right all he is a pushover that wants to be someone more but the plain fact is he will never get the state chairmanship,.

I wonder if his handpicked candidate was not falling down the tubes would he try and help Beltram be SCGOP chair ? Maybe Rick would wanna be Governor if ROmney won who knows.

This guy is a clown and an embarrasment to the party, Should have had Huckabee send Chuck to you on loan.

Yeah, Rick would do that. But when I had a speaking appearance with his local GOP women, he didn’t show up. Probably for fear if he tried to take me on in a public forum, he’d get shown up.

However, he has even harassed friends of mine who are involved in his county party, demanding to know what they know about me.

There are those in this world whose threats might concern me, but Rick isn’t one of them. Never has been, never will be.

    “Beltram strong-arm”

    Isn’t that an oxymoron?

Not sure how strong his arm might be, but I saw him in a theater once …

    Adam,
Gey away man! That was Beltram foreplay, and whispering ,”scream and I will kill you” is considered, sweet nothings in your ear. I bet the other hand had mistletoe in it. Again, hide, I think he is having carnal visions of you.
