Sanford’s pigsFor a guy who likes to make a media spectacle out of EVERYTHING, you would think Gov. Mark Sanford would be better at avoiding the age-old cliché “do as I say, not as I do.” But alas, our governor is beyond such trite logic — after all, he is the unilateral Ruler of South Carolina, right?

His unquestioned powers seemingly grant him the ability to wage war on the legislature for excessive spending while encouraging them to dish out cash for the things he wants.

Things like the overly-ironic spending clock, which was likely funded by taxpayers. Or the $101,524 in public money given from Sanford to a groups of his cronies.  And the $50 million he is now requesting be added to next year’s budget for “land conservation.”

Yeah… I’m all about land conservation and real estate, but I have a few questions.

First of all, how do we know the money won’t be transferred to some anonymous “reform” group?  Secondly, why should he get $50 million for anything when he vetoed a $21 million health care package for impoverished children?  And lastly, why shouldn’t we show up at 800 Richland Street with a baby pig under each arm and a full media escort?

The 100K is the remains of the more than a million that Sanford raised from private sources. I think that most would reject the notion that McConnell put forth that once public money touched private money all money was then public. This is classic snatch and grab and a standard that is not applied to any other business or charity.

Sanford is fighting the good fight and most SCers realize that those that argue against him just want to perpetuate the Good Ole boy network to enrich themselves.

The “GOP” legislature should be ashamed of their behavior. Of course what we see as GOP in SC would be democrat in other states.

I applaud Sanford’s safari against the RINOs as do most in SC.

That money was raised using illegal tactics and I know some names that would bring Marky Mark to his knees. Lots of people went to Mark’s parties and gave money and billed it back to the ” big boys”.

Mark Sanford does not take up for South Carolina residents. He has personally allowed Social Security to run rough shod in South Carolina when he holds the power to make things better for sick and elderly people in this state.

Mark Sanford is aware that a returning disabled citizen was denied services in South Carolina and was refused an opportunity for an Appeal. It was very convenient to loose the entire medical file so that the case was never heard outside of South Carolina. All the Republican leadership of this state apparantly approves this. This action was blessed by Lindsey Graham and Joe Wilson. Meanwhile the disabled person LOST TWO long term disability income policies. The disabled person is continuing to be harrassed by Social Security in Columbia and her record contains forged remand orders from the Appeals council.

And believe it or not, a remand was issued because the file was unavailable but a letter from the Chief Judge here in Columbia in this file states, ” the file was returned from the Appeals Council”.

Mark Sanford needs to leave politics. Mark Sanford should leave the state. He and his discriminatory policies have hurt many citizens that he was supposed to protect and defend.

A lousy governor that believes in illegal maneuvering to get what he wants…… more money in his pocket. Human beings are not important to Mark Sanford.

Willie Sutton robbed banks because, as he said, “That’s where the money is”.
Sanford wants to move 50 million taxpayer dollars to a fund that will have a tremendous affect on property values and usage in specific areas. And as I am sure Mark Sanford would say…”conservations…that’s where the money is”. That fund can create or destroy value…and Sanford knows this.

He also knows that large UNDISCLOSED, UNREGULATED DONATIONS from timber companies, real estate developers, bankers, property owners, etc…will be made to Mark Sanford “non-profits” in order to curry favor with Sanford and his 50 million dollar sledge hammer of a fund.

He has 6 nonprofits, or as some people have called them, slush funds, all with their money, donors and expenses hidden away from the public. We know they don’t report properly as they did not report Jeb Bushes flight and other expenses as an expense against the nonprofits revenue…thereby allowing the cost of a corporate jet to “vanish” into thin air. I wonder what out of state fat cat paid for that jet…and what they expect from Mark Sanford in return.

RE: Charleston Governor’s Conference: Seems to me Mark Sanford raise over a million dollars of money from people that, in return for their money, got access to Sanford and the Governors.

This event was in and around public facilities, public money and public employees. So it is clear that reasonable people would assume that the money paying for it all would be made public…and happily so.

So, Mr. Sanford…why want you tell us who funded your big party in Charleston. It would be nice to know who gave money to you, and who got money from government later.

Whatever happened to the Sanford manta…accountability and transparency?

Were they given a proper funeral” Or just stashed away with all the tax savings we were supposed to get from Sanford.
