Don’t worry, Oprah Winfrey and Barack Obama will still be holding an event in Columbia on Sunday, Dec. 9, but it won’t be at the Colonial Center. Instead, Obama’s campaign announced Wednesday that Williams-Brice Stadium, with a capacity of 80,000-plus, will play host because “the campaign says it had given out all available tickets and it kept getting thousands of requests for more.”
That should solve the problem of over-stuffing the 18,000 seat Colonial Center. If not, they could always move it to Lowe’s Motor Speedway outside of Charlotte, which holds 167,000 people. Granted, that’s in the wrong Carolina, but if the event was at Lowe’s, they could stick the couple on the back of a truck and have them do the awkward pre-race wave while slowly riding around the track thing that they make NASCAR drivers do.
_________
UPDATE: “Joe Public” just made a very good point: they can’t move the event to Lowe’s because then everyone would have to get vaccinations. Gosh, what was I thinking suggesting such a thing?

Yeah, but if they moved it to Lowe’s Motor Speedway, they’d have to get vaccinations. Come on Scoop. You know better than to propose that.

hee hee.
Considering the last time I went to a Nascar race, in Richmond, I saw a flag supporting the Klan, I would want to get vaccinated too.
Does anyone think its funny that the Gun and Knife show is going to be going on in the Fairgrounds the same time as the Barrack Winfrey Event.
adailysnoop may be on to something. this could be a bloodbath. “Dey’s havin’ a rally for WHO at the stadium?!?!”
Meanwhile, I want to see if the Obamaphiliacs break the Pope’s attendance record. Probably not. Now if it was Colbert…
