The Greenville News reports that the film “Leatherheads,” which stars George Clooney and was filmed in the Upstate, will not be released until the spring. Studio executives said next week’s opening date was pushed back to April 4 because Clooney had a boo-boo.

The actor’s recent motorcycle accident, in which he broke a rib after his motorcycle collided with a car; promotion for the film “Michael Clayton,” released in October; and his work on the film “Burn After Reading” are among the reasons for the delay, according to a statement from Universal Pictures.

Clooney is the director and star of the football-themed “Leatherheads,” a 1920s-set romantic comedy, which also stars Renee Zellweger and John Krasinski.

“Leatherheads” was filmed in several Upstate locations during February and March, including sites in Anderson, Greer and Tigerville, and many local residents nabbed bit parts in the film after several casting calls were held here. [DONNA ISABEL WALKER - Greenville News]

So if you were an extra or otherwise appears in the movie, you’ll have wait to see yourself on the big screen. Sorry, we’re just messenger. Blame Clooney.
