Following yesterday’s explosive video of Sen. John McCain fielding a tricky question at a town hall meeting in Hilton Head — “How do we beat the bitch?” a.k.a. Sen. Hillary Clinton [see unedited video here] — CNN anchor Rick Sanchez went nuclear and spewed enough firebrand sensationalist spin to fill an entire National Enquirer. Unfortunately for Sanchez, his blow-hard antics only made him the butt of the joke as he was subsequently humiliated by conservative pundits and Whoopi Goldberg.
In the wake of CNN’s tirade, McCain’s S.C. campaign manager Buzz Jacobs issued the following statement:
“It is disappointing that Mr. Sanchez would choose to engage in sensationalism in the hopes of generating a story. It not only reflects poorly on him, but on CNN. If Mr. Sanchez had even the faintest perspective on the race for the White House, he would know that Senator McCain has expressed his utmost respect for Senator Clinton numerous times on the campaign trail as he did at Monday’s event in Hilton Head.”
