You would think that voters in South Carolina would be able to recognize the host of television’s premier comedy news program, The Daily Show.
The show has featured nearly 1,500 episodes over the last 11 years and gave birth to the wildly popular spin-off The Colbert Report, hosted by Palmetto State native Stephen Colbert.
But as presidential hopeful John McCain found out Monday at a campaign stop in Hilton Head Island, the show’s 1.4 million nightly viewers must live somewhere other than here.
[McCain] regularly appears on television programs popular with young voters, including “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.” “If you have not seen him, he’s a very interesting and fascinating guy,” McCain said of the satirical host Stewart to the silent audience. One man coughed. It might as well have been a chirping cricket. [DANIEL BROWNSTEIN - Hilton Head Island Packet]
