Things got a little crazy in the U.S. Senate Thursday as legislative fireworks erupted over a number of issues. And the the grand finale came when Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) may have gone a bit too far in arguing over an amendment.
A short storm was followed by an even shorter calm. Within a few minutes, Sen. Jim DeMint, R-S.C., challenged an amendment about hunting Osama bin Laden, saying it breached a rule against authorizing on an appropriations bill.
DeMint won a verbal ruling from the chair.
But winning wasn’t enough.
He said he wanted a roll call, arguing that the rule was being enforced against Republicans more than Democrats.
At that point, even his colleagues became skeptical.
“I just think we need to calm down around here,” said Minority Whip Trent Lott, R-Miss., stepping into the skirmish. “I plead to my friend from South Carolina, this doesn’t prove anything to have us vote on something that is . . . you’ve already won.” [BART JANSEN - CQ]

Jim DeMint stands for principle, takes it to the Dems, and all you can do is criticize him. Shameful.
Jim DeMint is a pathetic little baby who cries when he doesn’t get hos way. Like the other posts here who uses stupid slang like “Dems” he is a crybaby. The poster “This place sucks” is a typical redneck wearing overalls waving his confederate flag thinking it’s really, really important to defend. Juvinile pathetic child.
