We’re a little late on this, but it’s a big story that didn’t get much attention in the blogosphere. The Associated Press Wednesday confirmed that Charleston would play host to the annual Southern Legislative Conference meeting in 2010.
Besides being the Olympics of state legislating in Dixie, House Speaker Bobby Harrell says the event will bring millions of dollars to the state. Harrell was elected the conference’s vice chairman earlier this week.
The Palmetto State last hosted the five-day meeting in 1998 in Charleston. About 2,800 legislators and guests attended that year.
