UPDATE: We found the audio of the alleged incident below and it’s HILARIOUS. The caller identifies himself as “Trooper Garrity” in a thick New England accent – you can’t pawk yaw caw in Hawvahd yawd – and attempts to get information on a driver so he can “personally issue a citation” to the guy. The best part is toward the end when he pretends to have a conversation with a “dispatcher” in which he clearly plays both roles.

It was just announced that presidential candidate Mitt Romney’s Director of Operations/wannabe cop Jay Garrity is “taking a leave of absence” from the campaign.
Garrity, who was cited by the real police three years ago for having flashing lights and other police equipment in his car without proper permits, is now accused of impersonating a police officer when he supposedly “pulled over” a New York Times reporter. And he has reportedly “retained a lawyer” to defend the charges – although word in the ’sphere is that it’s actually just a Romney intern posing as a lawyer.
But regardless of what the campaign says, we’re pretty sure that Garrity’s actually leaving to spearhead a make-believe top-secret undercover sting operation to catch a member of Romney’s finance committee who is allegedly tied to an organization that, according to a federal lawsuit, abused children. Robert Lichfield, a Utah native, is one of Romney’s top fundraisers and remains on the committee despite being named in the lawsuit.
We tried to reach Garrity for comment but then we flip-flopped and changed our position on interviewing first-hand sources. For now.

Wait is this guy really leaving to do that? How crazy.
*choking back tears here…
Garrity: “hold on one second… ok”
AS: “OK”
Garrity: “441 to operations…”
OMFG! this dude is certifiable.
He was not only holding down both sides of the radio chatter… but he was breaking in as other characters, too!
Hilarious.
This guy and his boss both have some serious iisues to address. MoFo’s both think theyre something their not.
Kind of sad listening to it you almost feel bad for the dude. Like he has nothing to do but sit around and track down people with reall job s who happen to piss him off somehow with there driving. SADDDDDD
