David O.: You’re trying a little too hard here. I’m a liberal Dem and I’m happy to see anything bad that comes Rudy’s way. But I do agree that Rudy can’t be expected to know that someone in one of his state campaigns is breaking the law.

However, you’re trying so hard to excuse the guy that you’re making it sound like they busted a guy who happened to be wearing a Giuliani button. He was the state chairman for the campaign, and yes, you do get appointed to that job. It doesn’t just go to the first guy who claims it. He had an important position in the campaign, particularly in a crucial primary state like SC. He wasn’t just a “supporter.” It is reasonable to think that he would have gotten a job in a Giuliani administration. How do you think new administrations get staffed?

Dear Uniformed,
Please inform me. Exactly what position did Giuliani or Demint appoint Ravenel? Is there some law that a politician must appoint his supporters to a government job? So, if I support, contribute to, or vote for a political candidate I can expect an appointment? This is the reason that every politician that Ravenel endorsed is being attacked for accepting his endorsement. Ravenel’s endorsement is a sure sign that you are going to give him the keys to the White House? I guess I am the one that is truly Uninformed.

David O. good point, selecting people for highly important appointed positions has nothing to do with political duties of elected leaders and therefore who they choose and the judgment used when doing such should not be an issue involved judging a politician.

Should we judge politicians by their own actions or by the actions of their supporters?Why do you “political insiders” attack Giuliani and Demint when Ravenel was charged with a crime? Why bash the people that Ravenel supports rather than Ravenel? This is why most normal folks are completely turned off by politics. The person people should be talking about is Ravenel, not Giuliani or Demint. If I was running for office, I would let the Treasurer of SC indorse and campaign for me too, wouldn’t you? How could anyone know that nearly 2 years ago he may have bought some cocaine. Are Giuliani and Demint supposed to have an inside source with SC law enforcement? Anyway, what happened to innocent until proven guilty or does that only apply to democrats?
