Presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani Monday announced his Iowa leadership team and a few names on the list are drawing some harsh criticism from a few pro-life groups. Rudy Planned ParenthoodThe Conservative Declaration Of Independence, a conservative issues watchdog group, noted in a press release Thursday that former Iowa Lt. Gov. Joy Corning, who was named as a co-chair of Giuliani’s Iowa campaign, is a member of the Planned Parenthood Board of Trustees. The group claims that Corning raised $11 million for the pro-abortion interest group as part of their “Responsible Choices” program.

Also on the Iowa leadership list was former Iowa Sen. Maggie Tinsman, a Regional Chair for the campaign. The Conservative Declaration Of Independence claims that Tinsman’s 1998 campaign was supported by Planned Parenthood and that, “during her time in the Iowa legislature Senator Tinsman actively advocated for abortion rights.”

“This is a leadership team that you would expect from Hillary Clinton or John Edwards, not a Republican Candidate for the President of the United States,” said Conservative Declaration Co-Founder Paul Nagy. “Rudy’s pro-abortion and pro-gay rights positions and actions are a slap in the face to the conservative principles on which the Republican Party was built.”

It seems as if Giuliani has swiftly crossed the line from accepting his buck-the-conservative-trend-pro-abortion candidacy to fully embracing it.

This is shocking! A popular candidate going against the grain?
