S.C. Politics Today has just broken the news that Richland 1 trustee Vince Ford “will formally announce his candidacy” for the 19th District Senate seat, which will be vacant following the retirement of Sen. Kay Patterson.

Ford, according to a news release, will hold a news conference Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. at the Columbia Housing Authority’s Wall of Fame.

Ford will be will be joined by Sen. Darrell Jackson, who serves on the Benedict College board of trustees with Ford, State NAACP President Dr. Lonnie Randolph and retired Presiding Elder Willie J. Nelson of the African Methodist Episcopal Church. [S.C. Politics Today]

    Who????? That’s quite a big step for a nobody, it’s not like the state senate is just a baby step above Richland county trustee or whatever this guy is.
