According to Dan Hoover at The Greenville News, on a conference call this morning between presidential candidate John McCain and S.C. reporters, the Arizona senator seemed to imply that President Bush may “hit the road” in defense of the Senate’s comprehensive immigration reform bill.
Here’s what McCain said of Bush’s involvement:
“The president’s heavy engagement and leadership is important; I think you’ll see him very visible on this issue, including from rumors I hear, possibly coming to South Carolina, although I can’t verify that.” [DAN HOOVER, Greenville News]
Hoover suggests that Greenville – arguably the strongest Republican base in the state – would make a great place for a stop by Bush. And it’s the home of Sen. Jim DeMint.
